Application of Rapid Impact Assessment for Development Projects

   There are many problems and shortcoming for application of traditional and regular methods of Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) in IRIRAN. The main problems are the costs, timing, accuracy, specialty of defining judgment, and evaluation of EIA reports.

The Rapid Impact Assessment (RIA) has been known as a new tool to organize, analyze and present of an EIA. RIA is based on quantitative data, standard, criteria definition, and accuracy.

Application of RIA as a powerful tool to use in an EIA, test different options easily and is able to obtain an overview of the solutions.

As a matter of fact, this computerized system allows for the results to be shown in graphical form, easy way evaluates and compare impacts of options with high accuracy and rapid evaluation.

In this paper, identifying of RIA methodology and an example of its application for a case study on proposed project of an airport in IRIRAN is given.
