The project for the construction of a storage dam near
Aliabad city in
Golestan
Province has been anticipated
to provide irrigation water and develop 16000 ha of
rain fed areas. The identification of the existing environment
has been dealt within four disciplines including the physical,
biological, socio-economic and cultural environment and man-made
environment. The environmental impacts of the project have been
identified and the rate of impacts for the design
alternatives have been anticipated. The environmental assessment
procedure of the project has been prepared on the basis of the method
presented by the International Commission On large Dams
( ICOLD ). Finally it is concluded that one
design alternative has the sole priority for implementation. The
mitigation measures and the environmental management plan including
controlling and monitoring of the environment at the construction and
the operation phases of the project have been prepared.
